I have been a quilt designer and instructor for over 10 years. My primary interest is traditional quilt making, particularly piecing. I love designing and coming up with techniques that make accurate piecing easier. One of my techniques is the Perfect Strips technique. It can be used to make all types of Log Cabin quilts, including the Pineapple as well as numerous other designs that use strips. It requires no special Pineapple ruler, no foundations, no templates, and results in perfectly square and accurate blocks. In addition it's very scrap friendly. You simply grab scraps from your scrap basket, press, and you're ready to sew. There's no tedious pre-cutting involved. Check out the gallery page
for samples of the different blocks and quilts that have been created using this process as well as other quilts that I've made.
The Accuquilt GO! cutter is a favorite and I use it whenever I can for really accurate and fast cutting. I've developed a few patterns that use the cutter and offer a few classes using these patterns. A few of these are available for download from this site. I lecture and teach classes at quilt guilds, shows, and retreats. My lecture consists of over 30 quilts - no slides - ranging from antique to my most current projects. I give tips on construction, making borders interesting using some simple techniques, and I talk about the design process that went into many of my quilts. Most of my classes are listed on my Workshop page, but I also have no problem customizing classes to fit a group's needs and interests. Don't hesitate to contact me for dates and fees.
